Multiresistant bacteria

Antimicrobial susceptibility varies between bacteria. Bacteria can be naturally resistant to some antimicrobial substances. Acquired resistance occurs when previously susceptible bacterial strains obtain the ability to resist the activity of an antimicrobial medicine. A multiresistant bacterium has become resistant to medicines that are most commonly used to treat the infections it causes.
